WOW. Have you seen the Joan Didion film, or read Blue Nights? The untold stories of what women in Hollywood have endured- until NOW we can only hope---positively curls my hair!!!!! the Shelly Duvall piece is beautiful and really well done, I think. Yug Paul Simon- he's a thief. Also, I don't get the Dr. Phil thing and I don't want to know. And yes, I ought to wake up to Judy Chicago! Love you to pieces.

Emma darling, you're a gem and I love your new newsletter.

Firstly, I adore that your initial thought upon waking was "Judy Chicago." It was most definitely a sign from God, and I'm jealous that She inspires you to shop in this expansive, life-affirming manner. Can we go see The Dinner Party installation sometime? (Also, I believe Judy Chicago has officially trademarked, Dinner Party-designed, functional-use dinner party plates, and I think we should both consider investing in them and holding a cocktail party.)

Secondly, HBO is on my list the moment because "The Undoing" was at best a two-hour movie, and spending six hours to tell that lackluster story was a tremendous waste of time, money, and talent. Hopefully Noma Dumezweni will get her own series next time, which would be much more interesting.

Instead of committing hours and hours to a new series (who has the attention span or time?), I recommend watching the excellent 2016 French film "Things to Come" on Hulu, in which the luminous Isabelle Huppert plays a philosophy professor who experiences a series of extreme life changes over the course of a year and finds the strength to move on, all in 102 minutes. It's much more respectful the ticking minutes of our existence (six hours which I will never get back, HBO, God!), and I found it quite inspiring in the new atmosphere of chaos that currently reigns over our world.

Thirdly, Madonna is always the right choice:
